Wealth
There are many different ways of becoming wealthy, requiring skill, knowledge and almost certainly a great deal of hard work and a need to be very focused. However what I want to share with you, is a really simple method. It’s good fun, and requires nothing but the ability to follow a straight forward procedure, and believe me, if I can do it, anyone in the world can do it.
Before we get into the mechanics of actually creating wealth, there are a few points I’d like to share with you.
I spent most of my working life in jobs from “nine to five.” I worked hard but always seemed to be broke. In fact I remember reading somewhere the word “job” could stand for “Just- Over- Broke!” How true it was in my case. I was always trying to make ends meet, often having to borrow, and continually in ever increasing debt, mainly caused through my own ignorance, bad management and just plain greed. I was living beyond my means, and eventually became bankrupt, but you don’t need to do that. There are Government backed Insolvency Organisations (on the Net and in most phone books) who will professionally reorganise your finances for you, in your favour, free of any charge. However, bankruptcy was actually a good lesson for me. Although I lost almost everything I owned, it enabled me to start afresh. I had learned the first, most important rule regarding the creation of wealth. Income must be greater than all outgoings. Yes I know, sounds obvious doesn't it? But the fact is most of us are always in debt with credit cards, bank overdrafts, loans, hire purchase agreements, mortgages, and so on.
I remained in the same sort of work, earning the same sort of money, but this time round, I learned to live within my means. I shopped sensibly, only buying what I needed, with one eye on the latest offers. I bought clothes from charity shops, some of them surprisingly good quality. My social life consisted of walking the countryside, visiting libraries, country craft fayres, (anything that was free) and occasionally a visit to the Pub for a glass of wine. In fact, I must tell you I quite enjoyed myself.
I swallowed my pride, and bought an old estate car for next to nothing, deciding from then on, any spare time I had, such as evenings and weekends, I would concentrate on ways of making money, completely separate to my existing income. I would keep my job, as my income was needed to sustain me, my overheads, car and rent etc. I then made myself a determined promise, not to spend any of the money I made separately until it had reached a serious amount. And that is where a secret lies. Make money that is never used to pay overheads of any kind. Ok? Catch my drift? Please read on.
There are those that will tell you, making money from nothing is one of the most difficult things to do. Nonsense, its easy! Allow me to explain.
Have you ever collected anything? I have. I used to collect books. Some people collect Toby jugs, others jewellery, old hand tools, fine art, antiques and so many other things. Here lies an important point. The money that I made separately to my income, I viewed in a different way to the money I earn’t as a living. I thought of it as “collecting money.” In the same way you would view the collecting of antiques. You will understand why as you continue to read. I must emphasise to you that this method of “collecting money” must not be used to subsidise existing income. It must be completely separate for it to work successfully. Ok?
First though, I felt that I had to climb out from the gutter and up onto the pavement, before I could possibly proceed from the pavement to the Palace.
